Crooked Oak Air Force JROTC

About Our Unit:

Established in 2006, the OK-20061 Air Force JROTC Program is the youngest AFJROTC program in the state of Oklahoma. Starting with only 52 cadets, OK-20061 has more than doubled in size throughout the years and is now in the top 5% of all JROTC programs in the nation for percentage of student body enrollment. OK-20061 has been recognized by Air Force JROTC Headquarters as an “Outstanding Unit” during every inspection since its inception.

At no time are you under obligation to join any branch of the Armed Forces. The purpose of JROTC is NOT to enlist you in any type of military service. The mission of JROTC is to “Develop Citizens of Character Dedicated to Serving their Community and Nation.”

Our curriculum is divided into three categories: Aerospace Science, Leadership Education, and Wellness Training.

Aerospace Science acquaints students with the elements of aerospace and the aerospace environment. It introduces them to the principles of space flight, principles of aircraft flight and navigation, the heritage of flight, aviation history, development of air power, contemporary aviation, human requirements of flight, the space environment, space programs, space technology, rocketry, propulsion, the aerospace industry, the science of flight, astronomy, geography, policy and organization, and survival.

Leadership Education is the portion of the AFJROTC curriculum that develops leadership skills and acquaints students with the practical application of life skills. The LE curriculum emphasizes discipline, responsibility, leadership, followership, citizenship, customs and courtesies, cadet corps activities, study habits, time management, communication skills, and drill and ceremonies.

Wellness Training provides leadership opportunities, builds esprit de corps, and increases cadet confidence. The purpose of the Wellness/PT Program is to provide a standardized, facility variations minded curriculum offering substantial individual health improvements. The objective is to motivate cadets to lead active lifestyles beyond program requirements, into their adult lives.

In addition to these three areas, cadets are encouraged to adopt the Air Force Core Values:

Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

If you are in at least 8th grade and are interested in joining our team, please see one of our JROTC instructors in the AFJROTC building on campus or talk with your school counselor.
